Why you need KitQC2
KitQC2 is a free software program for learning basic French with the accent of Quebec. It is a handy study aid for French speaking people, English speaking people and people who speak neither French nor English. In the software you will find more than 4,500 sound files made by French speaking adults living in Quebec. KitQC2 can help you learn how to read, write and understand French the way it is spoken in Quebec.
Compared to KitQC1, KitQC2 provides a better web site, improved documentation, added course content, corrects a few typos and features a bilingual interface. (In KitQC2 you can choose to see the buttons and the program Help in English or in French).
You can learn the letters of the alphabet (including accented letters), the sounds of the language, typical instructions used in classroom instruction, verbs, grammar and thousands of words of vocabulary.
The software is used in French language literacy groups for French speaking adults in Quebec. The students use the software during the lessons as well as using it at home on their computers.
With this software you can start to improve your understanding of Quebec French today - even if you don't have time to attend classes at a school.
All you need is an old computer with Windows and 140 Mb. of disk space.
It is not necessary to type to do the learning exercises. You can do them using a paper and pencil. However, for those who prefer to type, there is a very easy way to type the French accented characters using an English language keyboard. For example, you can type e/ and it becomes the French letter é or you can type e\ and it becomes the French letter è. Easy to use, easy to type, easy to remember.
The flexibility of KitQC2 means that you can add, change and delete material to suit your personal needs (or those of your French language literacy group). Also: all of the sound files are in mp3 format, so you can use them with other software programs, listen to them on your mp3 music player, etc.
The software is free. There is no registration, no advertising and no 'spyware'. If you download KitQC2 then you can make as many copies as you like to give to your friends, family and students. You cannot charge money for the software, the course, the documentation or the sound files.
KitQC2 can be used to help many different types of people to learn the French of Quebec. For instance:
