KitQC2 Notes for Programmers
There have been zero bug reports since KitQC2 was released a couple of years ago. If you look at the code, you’ll find that hard to believe.
KitQC2 was a fairly big program that could do braille to text, text-to-speech and lots of other fancy stuff. Basically, it was originally just a container for research and development work. There is a ton of copy and paste stuff in the program.
When the program became KitQC2, the goal was a small program that any old Windows computer could use with an absolutely minimalist learning interface. Students in adult literacy centers have many different types of needs. A super-simple interface was necessary.
Although the program is not fully Windows-compliant, well, neither is the Internet. Students like the program. Almost every student of Quebec French who has tried the program wants a copy. There are many success stories where students made excellent progress both during the courses and (especially) during the long breaks that many literacy centers take (a month a Christmas, 3 months in the summer, etc).
So, the code is pretty kludgy but it is stable and the students like it! KitQC3 is a brand new program so the code is nicer but it isn’t ready for release just yet.
