This is a general forum open to everyone for discussing the Pali language. Note : there are already good Pali groups at e-sangha and Yahoo Groups. This forum is for discussing stuff that doesn't really fit in any of the projects directly. It is also a way to make suggestions about projects that you are not participating in directly.

There is an open post in this forum with links that you can use for downloading the work done in this project. You do not have to be registered to download the work. Just open the post in this forum. It provides the links that you will need.

This is where the full and finished dictionary entries will be posted (with version numbers, dates, copyright information, authors and notes). You do not need to be registered to read information in the Word Vault.

CST4 has an open format dictionary. It is possible to add new entries very easily. This forum is for the creation of new dictionary entries. You don't need to be a Pali scholar to join. Each word will start a new topic - people can comment and the author can keep posting updates until the entry is finished.

(Invitation Only!) Once a definition has been created for the CST4 dictionary it must be submitted here for approval before being added to the new dictionary master file. You must be a recognized Pali expert to join. Please post an introduction in the Pali Language General Stuff forum above.

It is possible to add grammar definitions to the dictionary. The grammar words would have to be Pali but the definition of the grammar term will be in English. This would be a big help to Pali students.

If you have a good Pali accent, we would like to make exactly 10 sound files. Each sound file would just be the correct pronunciation of 100 word forms in the Pali top 1000. When CST4 enables sound file support then we can just split the sound file into pieces and plug it into the dictionary. Until then, it would be simple and useful to have the 10 sound files for the top 1000. It would take about 30 minutes to make each sound file of 100 words (as listen and a little pause for repeat).

It would be nice to have images (where relevant) for the top 1000 word forms in Pali. If you have a digital camera then please feel free to participate in this forum. We can provide you with the list of words and you can decide which words you would like to make pictures for.
