emsjuwel is a transliteration demo application
using javascript, css and XUL for the Firefox browser.

Getting Started

You will need to download and unzip the file. The file is only 4 kb. (really tiny).
If you do not know how to unzip a file (for Windows you right-click on it then choose Extract All...)
you can find instructions if you search on the web or you can ask a geeky friend.

Download emsjuwel.zip


When you have unzipped the file you will see something like this:

Optional - Looking at the source code (not necessary - it's more for programmers)

You can Open the XUL file using File->Open with Notepad (Windows) or any text editor program.
You can Open the javascript file with the right-click option Edit (Windows) or any text editor program.
You can Open the css file with the right-click option Edit (Windows) or any text editor program.

Before you run the program

If you are online when you open the program then you will see
the Namke World Productivity Home Page from the Internet.

The tabs you will see for sections are just ideas about what you could do
to make your own program for yourself, your company or your group.

Using emsjuwel with Internet Explorer 7 or higher (Firefox below)
When you double-click on the file emsjuwel.xul file
then Internet Explorer, will start and you will get the message below.
Click on the Open button and Explorer will start the emsjuwel application.

Using emsjuwel with Firefox 2.0 or higher
You can make it very easy to open emsjuwel with the Firefox browser

First, you right-click on the emsjuwel.xul file and you choose Open.

Second, tell Windows that you would like to choose the program yourself.
Make certain that you click the button for 'Select the program from a list'

Third, you choose the program that you would like to use (Firefox)
Make certain that you click the button for 'Always use this program to open the selected file'

Now, whenever you double-click on emsjuwel it will open in the Firefox browser automatically.

Congratulations! You are now using the emsjuwel program in Firefox.
If you are connected to the Internet when you start the program then you will see
the home page for Namke World Productivity in the browser window.

Across the top of the window you will see some tabs.
These are ideas for how emsjuwel could turn Firefox into a language learning tool.

On the right, you can try transliteration.
Click in the window on the right side and type aa e/ and De to see transliteration work.

You can use the button to turn transliteration on and off.
